The company who makes and sells InstallShield announced today that it is changing its name…again. Gee, just when I was getting used to the old one.
On October 12, 2009, Acresso Software will change its name to Flexera Software. Quoting the RSS Feed story on the Acresso site:
" We’re excited about the change and wanted you to be among the first to know. We will issue a formal press announcement about this on October 13.
While the company name will change, you can expect the same high level of service from our team and our continued commitment to delivering the best software and services around our market leading brands, InstallShield, FlexNet, and AdminStudio."
The company insists that the corporate branding change should be transparent to us, the valued customers and developers. That's good, because I have been emailed in the past with people asking me if they should really learn to develop with InstallShield, since it has changed hands a few times. They wonder if it will be around in the future. I have told them that I had been using it since 1992, and all the times it had changed hands, I had never noticed a change in the product or service. Acresso also states this in their press release of today and I have no reason to suspect otherwise.
I just thought the readers of this blog would like to know.
